Happy Wednesday, and welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter. Each week, you can expect a Take from us, our honest opinion about a trend we’ve observed, a category-defining deal or an activation. For those of you who are new here, we’re Anvara and we believe sponsorship deals shouldn’t just depend on who you know, but what’s available and relevant to you.

Are you caught up?
Two deals, one tell.
⚽ Newcastle lost its shirt sponsor and found a better one before the season started — Sela left. Knox Hydrate came in on a three-year deal, worth £60M in base fees rising to £80M with bonuses. The home kit had already gone on sale without a logo on it — fans who bought it can get the Knox badge applied later. Knox wasn't a cold call — they'd already been given naming rights to the training ground. When the shirt opened up, the answer was already in the building. Newcastle didn't scramble. They just upgraded the partner.
👖 Levi's won the World Cup without paying FIFA — FIFA rules required Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara to cover its naming rights branding for the duration of the tournament. Levi's leaned into it, posted about the cover-up, and watched it become the most commented and shared post in brand history. Mentions up 44%. Engagement up nearly 4x. The constraint became the campaign.
The tell: Both stories are about inventory that looked locked but wasn't. A shirt deal gets replaced at a higher rate. A stadium name gets covered and turns into the marketing story of the tournament. The brands and properties that move fastest when something opens up are the ones that win. That speed doesn't come from a 4-month sales cycle. That’s why we exist.

The Take: Golden State Didn’t Negotiate the Patch. They Priced It.
Every NBA team has a number in their head for what their jersey patch is worth. Golden State just proved most of them wrong.
Iren, an Australian-founded AI cloud provider, takes over the Warriors patch starting next season at $50M+ per year, replacing Rakuten. The richest jersey patch deal in North American sports history.
But the number isn't the story. The structure is.
This isn't a Warriors deal. It's a Golden State Group deal — the parent holding company that owns the NBA team, the WNBA's Valkyries, and the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors. The partnership spans all of it: jersey badge, Valkyries warm-ups, Santa Cruz jerseys, Chase Center visibility, and presenting sponsorship of the Warriors' annual City Edition platform.
Every surface the organization controls, packaged and priced into a single conversation.
Which is why the number got to $50M+.
Most patch deals get negotiated off instinct. A property feels out what the market will bear, a brand pushes back, and they land somewhere in the middle based on who blinked first. The process is relationship-driven and opaque by design — because opacity protects the seller when they don't actually know what their inventory is worth across every surface it controls.
The Warriors removed the opacity.
And Iren's framing says the quiet part out loud. Daniel Roberts, Iren's co-founder and co-CEO, described both organizations the same way: vertically integrated. Iren owns the full infrastructure stack — power, data centers, compute. The Warriors own the full property stack — NBA, WNBA, G League, arena. Two organizations that built complete control of their respective categories, finding each other.
That alignment isn't accidental. That’s what a priced market looks like when it's working. Both sides knew exactly what they brought to the table.
The patch market has been running on relationships and gut feel for years. One deal just introduced comps. Every team walking into a renewal conversation now gets measured against $50M+/year — and most of them won't have the inventory transparency to justify why their number should be anywhere close.
So before you walk into that renewal conversation, ask whether you actually know what your inventory is worth.
On Anvara, you don't wait for a pitch. You find the deal.
